Bill and Mary Gwynne of Coalport, near Telford, were thrilled when their youngest grandchild, Katie Raw-Rees (9), won the Pet Lamb Championship at Burwarton Show with her Cade Lamb, Phillipa.

And the family put much of their triumph down to the fact that Phillipa, whose mother died when she was lambed, has been raised purely on a diet of lamb creep pellets and milk supplement bought from their local Countrywide Farmers stores in Newport and Bridgnorth.

Katie and her elder sister Emma (14), who live in Macclesfield, have been enjoying much of their summer holiday with their grandparents and their family of ponies, sheep and rare breed chickens, at their six-acre holding at Swinney House. As well as exhibiting at shows (they also took ponies to last weekend's Tenbury Show), the sisters are also keen riders and are members of the Wheatland Pony Club, near Bridgnorth.

The Gwynnes, who keep two ponies for Katie and Emma - Little Gem and Charlie Brown, 17 sheep and an assortment of chickens, go to their local Country Stores for a wide range of Countrywide products, ranging from sheep drenches to sheep food, shampoo to shavings, wormers to pony food, for example.

This was the first time we'd shown one of our animals at a show," said Mrs Gwynne.

"The girls are very competitive with their show jumping and eventing so we were all delighted when Phillipa showed she was a winner and was made best Pet Lamb."
