A MAN was treated for facial injuries following a late night fight in the West Hill area of Bournemouth.

Dorset Police confirmed they were called to Purbeck Road shortly after 11.30pm on Wednesday.

It was also reported that a car was damaged during the incident.

The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital.

A building converted into nine flats has been cordoned off by police close to the junction of Purbeck Road and St Michael's Road.

Neighbours told the Daily Echo that they were only aware something had occurred when they awoke to see the police activity at the address.

Crime scene investigation officers were at the building, which remained under manned police guard at lunchtime.

Police have also told the Echo that they are unable to confirm if a weapon was reported to have been used in the incident.

Some neighbours in the local area have previously contacted the Echo with concerns about growing anti-social behaviour.

A 30-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.

He is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
