On a day filled with train themed activities, the land train will be going through Redruth on June 1.
There will be screenings of the cult classic ‘The Railway Children’, rail talks at the Redruth Club and the chance for children to meet the Fat Controller, Minions and Peppa Pig.
Redruth’s monthly craft and produce market will also be on the same day along with Murdoch House opening its doors to showcase a model railway exhibition.
The Buttermarket’s new vegan and vegetarian café, Beats & Roots, will be serving food and drink from breakfast through until 4pm.
The town mayor, Deborah Reeves will be launching the train at 9.45am and the award-winning Redruth Town Band will be playing at 10am. The train will run from then onwards.
The circular train ride will last half an hour with a chance to visit the Open Studios at Krowji and to see the brand new Kresen Kernow building.
Redruth Revival CIC have been running a writing and drawing competition for children with a final entry date of May 29th. Entries will be on display in the Redruth Library. Prizes have been donated by Windmill Nursery, Redruth.
The Regal Cinema is screening ‘The Railway Children’. Show times are 11am, 1.15pm and 3.30pm.
The day is being run by Redruth Revival CIC, which is aiming to help to revive Redruth Town Centre for the benefit of the community.
Tickets for the train will be £2 per person.
