A 33-year-old Penryn father died of respiratory failure due to a combination of drugs and his pneumonia.

Christopher Timothy Rogers was found by his mother at home on the morning of June 10 2018.

He was unresponsive, and paramedics were called.

They performed CPR but sadly were unable to resuscitate him, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An inquest today (Friday March 22) heard how Christopher was found with a combination of drugs in his system, although none of them were at fatal levels.

He was found with a combination of Diazepam (Valium), cannabis, heroin and methadone in his system, "none of them in excess" according to an analysis of his blood.

It was noted that he had struggled with substance misuse since 2004 and had been diagnosed with a depressive disorder.

He had also sought medical help for his insomnia and been prescribed a sleeping pill, Zopiclone.

Giving evidence today, DC Susan Buckley confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances in Christopher's death, nor was there any third party involvement.

Police analysed his mobile phone but this did not lead them to any further lines of enquiry.

Coroner Barry Van Den Berg addressed Christopher's parents at the inquest, saying that there is "nothing as unbearable as losing a child", and that he was sure anybody hearing the story would find it sad and offer their sympathy.
