Two farms on the Christie Devon Estate to the north of Bideford have been put up for tender by Savills under 15 year farm business tenancies. Raddy Farm and Westleigh House Farm are both productive livestock holdings and are available as a whole or in two separate lots from 29 September.

Situated between Instow and Tapeley Park, Raddy Farm overlooks Torridge Estuary. It extends to nearly 453 acres and comprises a collection of farm buildings and a mix of arable and pasture land. Raddy Farmhouse, a six-bedroom detached stone house which sits within the farmstead, is being offered to prospective tenants of the Farm at £9,000 per annum. A range of traditional buildings to the north of the Farmhouse, which have previously been used for stabling and storage, lend themselves to alternative uses.

Westleigh House Farm extends to nearly 217 acres and comprises a ring-fenced block of bare pasture and arable land. The land has been farmed in recent years as a livestock unit, mainly for sheep. About 67 acres of the land is Grade II* Registered Parkland, which forms part of Tapeley Park, known for being chemical and spray-free.

The farms do not currently have organic status however the vendor will give preference to applicants who choose to convert the holdings to organic. Andrew Woollacott, Savills Taunton, comments:

“Rarely do holdings of this scale and size become available in the local area so it represents a unique opportunity for prospective applicants. We have tried to ensure there is flexibility by offering the option of the house, and by making it available as two lots, which can be tendered for separately or as a whole.”

Viewings are being held on Friday 22 and Wednesday 27 March and tenders must be submitted by midday on Monday 29 April.
