ON Sunday, May 5th, the UK's only 'Ciderthon' will be taking place in Taunton. In an unusual combo of pub crawl and half marathon, the Ciderthon offers participants cider pit stops at every mile of the 13 mile event across beautiful Taunton scenery. Along the way, brews from different makers at each stop including The Taunton Cider Co, Bumble Bee, Sheppys, Hallets and Crafty Nectar will provide 'refreshing pit stops'. Vegan and Gluten Free Ciders will also be available.

Amateur and professional runners are all welcome. To encourage the fun, runners are encouraged to don fancy dress. The winner of the best fancy dress will take home their weight in cider.

If still standing, all runners when crossing the finishing line will get a medal and a pint of the good stuff to salute their hard work. Live music and entertainment from ‘Fuelled By Cider’ will get peoples' dancing trainers in the groove and there will be a hog roast.

Ciderthon are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for the local charity Somerset Sight. The annual event only in it's second year proved so popular last year that organisers decide to move to a bigger venue to cater for the thousands. 700 runners have already signed up to the event and with the new venue, the crew are hoping to double that.

Bristol based Nikki Hawkes, Organiser and Founder of Ciderthon, said: "Last year was such a success that more and more people want to take part this year and we need to be by a train station. Everyone has been really supportive; Taunton is a great location for the runners and there are so many great ciders on the doorstep!"
