Rebecca Tonks was the winner of the big award at the South West Farmer Awards 2018 - outstanding achievement.

Rebecca owns St Ewe Eggs, based at Ventonwyn Farm between Truro and St Austell in Cornwall, together with her parents. They have 12 partner farms that supply free range eggs.

Rebecca’s father started the farm with a single Jersey cow in 1967. He built it into a herd of 70 before turning to chickens when milk quotas came in. Having steadily grown the business, Rebecca is now a leading director and has overseen an 87 per cent growth in sales over the past 12 months.

She hoped to hit a turnover of £3.6 million in 2018.

A new processing plant has been installed that has allowed St Ewe Eggs to fill a gap in the market, providing liquid egg to the catering industry. This year it has won Great Taste Awards and a host of Taste of the West Awards.

These achievements won her the South West Farmer award in 2018 – could it be you this year?
