LOUD bangs were heard coming from a bungalow in Carleen, near Helston last night.
The incident is being treated as suspicious by Cornwall Fire and Rescue, who were called to the scene following a 999 call 999 call at 10.25pm.
Witnesses said that smoke and bangs could be seen and heard and the bungalow was well alight when firefighters arrived.
Police were also called and cordoned off the property.
A police spokesman said: "Scenes of Crime officers are due to meet with the fire service later today to progress the investigation."
Appliances from Helston, Tolvaddon and a flexi duty officer were mobilsed.
Further resources from, Hayle, Falmouth, and St Just were mobilised along with two more flexi duty officers.
