Great Britain's Jason Kenny edged further towards riding for Olympic gold in the men's cycling sprint on day five of action at the London 2012 velodrome.

The 24-year-old from Bolton won the opening bout of his best-of-three contest with Trinidad's Njisane Nicholas Phillip, leading from the start before being untroubled as the sprint began entering the last of the three laps.

In the second semi-final, three-time world champion Gregory Bauge of France was able to round Australia's Shane Perkins and win by half a bike length to take a 1-0 lead.
