The Royal Cornwall Show is living up to its reputation today.
In fine weather thousands of people poured into the showground at Wadebridge for the second day of the show, and nearly all car parks are rapidly filling up. The showground has been heaving since very early this morning, with traffic queued back as far as Fraddon.
Main ring events are high on the list of attractions, including the human cannonball Dave “The Bullet” Smith, from the USA, and the music from the Light Infantry.
A royal visitor is expected at lunchtime. Princess Alexandra will tour the showgrou9nd and be in the main ring for the grand parade of cattle this afternoon.
Throughout the showground the theme revolves around all things Cornish, particularly food, and that is being supported by three major supermarket chains, Asda, Co-op and Tesco, who have all set up huge displays of Cornish produce.
For the first time in many years there has been little political discussion at the showground and few politicians present, due to the crisis in London at government level and the elections yesterday.
