A dedicated police officer has been appointed to crack down on livestock rustling in Cornwall and Devon.
Last year one farmer in Devon lost 100 lambs, costing him around £4,000, and there have been 40 cases of rustling in the last five years.
Inspector Bob Webb said it was important to have an officer dealing with rural crime in the region where farming is one of the main industries.
