Does electric fencing on the smallholding have to be a complete circuit?

No! … this is the most common misconception in regards to electric fencing. Luckily electric fencing can run for miles in one direction if so desired and doesn’t have to come back to itself. The only circuit in electric fencing is: electric fence, animal touches fence, pulse passes through the animal into the ground and then back to the earth stake giving the animal the electric fencing zap. The animal completes the circuit.
