| Editor's Comment - August 2008 | | RECENT issues of "Smallholder" have highlighted the Peak Oil movement and for several months now we have been looking at the science behind climate change and the implications for food production. |
| Editor's Comment - July 2008 | | I AM officially a different person this month from the last time I wrote. This month I am a person who can handle a swarm of bees! |
| Editor's Comment - Show Special 2008 | | IN this issue of "Smallholder" we have devoted a number of pages to blue tongue, which by now I am sure everyone knows affects not only cattle and sheep but also camelids (llamas and alpacas) deer and goats. Readers are also no doubt aware of the JAB campaign, the Joint Action Against Bluetongue, group who are trying to ensure that all livestock is vaccinated for the disease. I feel that smallholders are very likely to wish to vaccinate their animals as soon as the vaccine becomes available in their area. |
 | Life of a smallholder | | Woken by the cock crow as dawn breaks, lulled to sleep by your cattle lowing. In between, a tough but satisfying day of egg-collecting and hand-milking. The life of the small holder has a powerful romantic appeal to anyone sick of the stresses of city life. | | Reader comment (1) |
