Golden day for British produce at Hampton
4:31pm Tuesday 3rd July 2012 in News
A display showcasing the best of British fresh flowers, plants and produce has scooped another gold medal at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
The latest gold haul comes just weeks after the stand – a partnership between the NFU and Waitrose - won gold at Chelsea Flower Show for the 16th time in a row.
Award-winning stand designer Penny Riley has once again re-created the stunning display, this year entitled ‘Celebrating the best of British Summertime’, made up entirely of products shoppers can go out and buy from supermarket shelves straight away.
NFU horticulture adviser Dr Chris Hartfield said: “Once again, Penny has done a tremendous job in using British produce for the stand. Even now, it can still take visitors by surprise that everything used as part of the design can be bought from the supermarkets straight away. Nothing is grown especially for the show and it highlights just how good British growers are at providing healthy, nutritious and interesting food for our tables and top-notch flowers and plants for the home and garden.”
