Free donkey day at Devon Sanctuary

The Donkey Summer Fair is planned to be the biggest family event to take place this year at The Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth – it starts at 10am this Sunday 15th August and admission is free.

The Sanctuary and its connected charity, EST, will be providing a wide range of activities and displays for the enjoyment of all the family, including donkey cart rides, a barbeque, bouncy castle, face painting, dog agility, a children’s corner, beer tent, bucking bronco, large inflatable assault course, plant and cake stalls, bric-a-brac and more.

Dawn Vincent is helping to organise the event. She says: “Please come along and support our Donkey Summer Fair – it’s going to be so much fun this year as we have more activities than ever before.

“We have several displays including the donkey riding display and award ceremony in the afternoon where local children with special needs will be recognised for their progress or achievements since coming to our EST centre for riding therapy.

“Any funds raised on the day will be a great help to our two charities, which both rely entirely on donations.”

The two charities are connected by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen, MBE, who founded The Donkey Sanctuary in 1969 and EST (formerly The Slade Centre) in 1975.
