Entries are now open for the cattle, sheep, pig and goat sections at the Royal Cornwall Show 2018 on June 7,8, and 9 at the Wadebridge showground.

In total there will be 883 classes across the livestock sections with thousands of animals participating.

The sheep section, headline sponsored by Mole Valley Farmers, saw an all-time high of 1401 entries last year, surpassing the previous record set the year before.

In total 39 sheep breeds were represented and the Whiteface Dartmoor sheep secured its own breed classes for the first time.

A similar surge in support was experienced in the pig section, which saw 261 entries last time, a significant increase on the previous entry record of 222 set in 2006.

Christopher Riddle, secretary at the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, is looking forward to another strong year of competitive livestock action at the show.

“We enjoyed strong entries in recent years within our livestock sections with many new records set which is pleasing to see and we hope this continues in June."

Closing dates for entries are as follows:

Cattle, sheep and pigs: April 17

Goats: April 1
