THE Mare and Foal Sanctuary is delighted to be hosting a brand new event to showcase local art and help raise funds for its horses.

The inaugural Equine Art Exhibition takes place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April 2015 at the Sanctuary’s Visitor Centre in Littlehempston, near Totnes.

This exciting fixture will see a host of local equine and animal artists display unique pieces inspired by Sanctuary horses, with a percentage of funds raised from their sales going towards the charity’s work.

From photography to painting and textiles to handmade crafts, there will be dozens of beautiful gifts for all budgets and age ranges on display – and there will even be an appearance from Sanctuary ponies in the exhibition arena.

Amy McSweeny, event organiser and Sanctuary press officer, said: “Whether you’re a horse lover or an art lover, it’s guaranteed to be a fantastic event.

“We were inspired to hold an exhibition after receiving interest from a couple of local artists, who had kindly created works for us to sell.

“Rather than give them limited wall space, we wanted to get their work in front of as large an audience as possible, and we’re delighted that several other equine artists have joined our cause to help.

“We’re so grateful to everyone exhibiting for helping us to raise money for the charity, and would love as many people as possible to come along over the weekend.”

Funds raised from the event will go towards the Sanctuary’s work rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming horses in need. The event is open to visitors from 10am to 4pm.
