A boom in interest in food and farming has created big success for the Moreton-in-Marsh Show in the Cotswolds.

Demand for trade stand space at this summer’s Moreton Show on Saturday, September 5 is spectacular as traders rush to secure a spot at Britain’s biggest one-day agricultural show.

The early rush for space comes as the Moreton Show Annual Report reveals just how big a success last year’s event was. There were record crowds of 25,000 people and an increase in entries in almost every section. Organisers of the show, The Moreton in Marsh & District Agricultural and Horse Show Society, which is a charity, made a profit to October 2014 of £23,253 – an increase on the previous year of £26,996. Gate takings were up by 15.5 per cent and there was an increase in trade stand revenue of more than £7,000.

Society Chair, Katharine Loyd said: “There’s no doubt that food and farming are of great interest to people now - it’s the Countryfile effect. Last year’s show was a major success, with huge crowds and pre-show ticket sales at record levels. We’re proud of our mix of farming, food, fashion and fun for all the family and that we’re able to let people experience the countryside in a day.”

Plans for this year’s show are well underway and the Showground Director, Clare Foster said that demand for space is at a premium, with more than 240 trade stands already booked through the online booking system.

She added: “We’ve never known such a rush for space so if you or your company want to trade at the 2015 Moreton Show, my advice would be to book now.”
