If you are considering ex-battery hens, why not attend 'Henfest 2011'. On Saturday 30th July Lorraine and Russell Barrett, in conjunction with 'Little Hen Rescue' will be holding a charity event in Roxwell, Essex, attempting ro rehome 1000 of these endearing creatures. Tonty Beavis comments that he gave homes to 4 last year and it has been fantastic watching the poor, emaciated, almost featherless birds turn into plump, happy and characterful pets. And as an added bonus As well as the chickens, several other charities will be there including 'Greyhound Homer' and 'Bird Line', a parrot rehoming charity. There will also be a beekeeping hive on display as well as a tombola and various stalls.You can treat the kids to a donkey ride, admire the alpacas and sheep and treat yourself to coffee and cake and make an afternoon of it.
Feed and bedding for your girls will be available to buy, all you need to is a box to take your new treasures home in. Any chickens MUST be reserved in advance and further information can be found at http://www.henfest.co.uk/rescue-info/
