For the first time World Horse Welfare is looking to rehome a mare and foal together.
Bay Shetland Gina G and her four month old foal Ginelli, who is also bay, are at the Belwade Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire and are ready to be rehomed.
Nine year old, 10.0hh Gina G came to us as part of a large welfare case in 2010 and was unhandled. She soon settled in and in April this year she had a filly foal, Ginelli, who was born at Belwade Farm.
Gina G is shy but has a sweet temperament and would thrive in a quiet home. Ginelli is not shy at all and loves as much attention as she can get! She is extremely curious and would need regular handling to ensure that she retains her confidence and has good manners as she gets older.
Belwade Farm Centre Manager Eileen Gillen said “They are both really lovely ponies who will bring a lot of pleasure to the people who rehome them. They have such different characters but are so easy to do and I’m sure will catch the eye of many people as they’re so adorable.”
In their new home, they will require restricted diets to prevent them from getting laminitis. Both ponies will be rehomed as companions as their poor conformation won’t allow them to be ridden.
If you would like to offer the two ponies a home please submit an application for them by visiting our rehoming pages at www.worldhorsewelfare.org/rehoming Belwade Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre is open to members of the public every Wednesday, weekend and Bank Holiday between 2pm and 4pm. For more information please call Belwade Farm on 01339 887 186.
