Fun for all at FREE Donkey Summer Fair
8:19pm Friday 10th August 2012 in News
A fun day out for all the family is in store at The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Summer Fair, whatever the weather. The event takes place on Sunday 12th August from 10am at the charity’s headquarters near Sidmouth, and admission is FREE.
The biggest family event in the charity’s calendar, the Donkey Summer Fair promises to be a fun-packed day out. Entertainment includes donkey displays in the main arena, a dog agility display, a dog show, a craft tent, a Punch and Judy show, a bouncy castle and other fun inflatables, skittles, face-painting and the opportunity to meet some of the charity’s resident mules and find out how they differ from donkeys. There is also the opportunity for visitors to win a weekend break in the charity’s free prize draw.
There will be a barbeque and beer tent for when all the day’s excitement makes visitors feel a bit peckish or in need of refreshment.
Claire Shapcott, Events Supervisor for The Donkey Sanctuary, says: “Our annual Donkey Summer Fair has attracted thousands of visitors over the years, many of whom return again and again for a fun day out with no admission fee or charge for parking. We are looking forward to seeing some of our resident donkeys show off their skills in the main arena, and watching prize pooches demonstrate their abilities in our dog agility display. Food and drink will be available all day, and with a combination of crafts and children’s activities running alongside our animal-centred events, we are certain that there is something for everyone. We are looking forward to welcoming record numbers of visitors on the day.”
As well as providing a great day out for all the family, money raised at the Donkey Summer Fair will help to fund the worldwide work of The Donkey Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is open 365 days a year with free admission and parking, and visitors are always welcome to come along to meet the resident donkeys and find out more about the charity.
