8:00am Wednesday 8th August 2012 in News
The dispersal of the Miscombe Limousin herd for Buriton Estates saw a big crowd of buyers descend on Newark Market all eager to secure the herd's leading bloodlines, with the sale grossing just £95 shy of £0.5m at £499,905.
And, with a heady mix of genetics on offer it was no surprise to see two of the breed's big spenders of recent weeks, Dai Walter and Danny Sawrij, battling it out to claim the best cattle , said auctioneer Paul Gentry. "It was an exceptional sale for a well put together herd of cows which were fit to grace any herd in the land ."
Topping the sale sheet at 12,000gns was July 2006-born Miscombe Bolande, an Imperial daughter out of the Broadmeadows Cannon daughter Bellisle Olande. She sold with an impressive Branceille bull calf at foot and having ran with Loosebeare Bomber to Danny Swarij for his Swalesmoor herd, Lockerbie.
Then close behind her at 11,000gns and the second of 31 animals to make 5000gns or more was Miscombe Blackbird, a May 2006-born Truffaut daughter out of the Jockey-sired Miscombe Raven. She sold with a Branceille-sired bull calf at foot and also joined the Swalesmoor herd.
