Poultry breeders look out for Welsh United Game Club Show 2012

To Game Bird breeders throughout the United Kingdom, the Welsh United Game Club Show, held in the mining village of Seven Sisters near Neath in South Wales, was one of the highlights of the poultry showing calendar. With giants of the breed represented by such people as the late Medwyn Evans, Roland Whitaker and Eric Trickett in their prime, it was hard to imagine being able to see much higher standards of Game Birds on show!
Now after an absence of two or three years, there is a group of breeders in the area who believe the show should return to the show calendar and to this end, they have met to discuss the possibility of holding the event sometime later in 2012. The venue, date and management of the show are all up for discussion, but with Seven Sisters, the spiritual home of the Welsh United, and Medwyn Evans’ two sons, Huew and Dafydd heavily involved in continuing their father’s successful showing career, it seems inevitable that the village must be top of the list.
Many Game Bird exhibitors remember the original show when breeders from all over Wales, Scotland, the North of England, the Midlands and across the South and South and West of Englan all congregated at the Nant Carn Social Club where the competition was strong, the banter was heart warming and the Welsh welcome as warm as any show anywhere.
Things are still in the early days and Game breeders everywhere will be contacted personally if and when they have anything definite to report. They hope they can continue to provide a high class competition to established and new breeders to the fancy and that Seven Sisters will once again echo to the music of Game Birds of all types from all over the United Kingdom.
