BRIGHT sunshine greeted thousands of visitors to the second day of the RWAS Spring Festival in Builth Wells this morning.

On a busy day two at the show there’s a lot of entries to look through and maybe bid on making it an exciting sale.

Impressive as ever, the Cattle Parade and commentary features the finest beef and milk animals.

Last year the greenhouse made of bottles was inspiring and this year there is a demonstration of how to construct it plus also the ever useful hurdle making (not from bottles!)in the Green Horizons Exhibtion.

The dance displays add to the flavour of the show and as you look round the Floral Hall there are the wonderful strains of a real live String Quartet playing in the balcony. Grabbing a home made sandwich in the café there, its great to relax and look down over the colourful displays in the Floral Hall.

The talk about vegetable and allotment garden is one of several talks in the Gardners’ Question time are in the Floral Hall but it’s the “Quiz the Vets” talk later on in the afternoon where many people are planning to take their questions.

Meirion Owen and his famous Quack Pack of comical runner ducks never loses its charm and the children absolutely love it.

The “Getting Started Information Desk” is a new innovation and helps to guide anyone who is doing just that. Paperwork, regulations and the practicalities of livestock keeping are just some of the themes on offer and the Getting Started Trail guides visitors to places around the show where they can find out what they need to know.

Every year this show leaves people inspired and with more knowledge and knowing where to access what they need to follow their interests. There really is so much to do at this show, come rain, come shine with additions each year to an already packed programme.

The Smallholder team are proud to be part of it, like the magazine itself, a storehouse of information and practcal advice.

For a souvenir picture special of this year's RWAS Spring Festival pick up a copy of the July issue of Smallholder magazine in shops on June 8.
