Farming Connect is inviting farmers and smallholders in the Newtown area to attend an open day which will offer specialist advice on reducing the cost of feeding ewes in late pregnancy without compromising performance. The open day will take place at Goetre Farm, Kerry, Newtown, SY16 4NA at 1pm on Wednesday 25 January and is kindly hosted by John Parry and Family. Lesley Stubbings, an independent livestock specialist, who was appointed an OBE for services to the sheep industry in 2006, will be leading the day at Goetre Farm. Ms. Stubbings will be looking for ways of reducing the amount of supplementary feeds and concentrates given to the ewes, focusing on their nutritional needs and the quality of the silage being fed. To register or for further information please contact Farming Connect facilitator for Montgomeryshire, Adam Watkins on 07531487928 or email: adam.watkins@menterabusnes.co.uk.
