Beef and sheep producers who want to enhance the genetic potential of their livestock can now access breeding records and technical factsheets on a revamped industry website.

www.signetfbc.co.uk is a comprehensive online resource which enables visitors to search for individual breeding records for any of the 25 sheep breeds and nine beef breeds recorded by Signet Breeding Services, which is part of EBLEX, the organisation for beef ands sheep producers in England. Users can also download a series of new technical factsheets and visit breed-specific pages, which host summary reports, such as top sires, for each breed.

Signet manager Sam Boon said: “The new Signet website is an important information source for both pedigree and commercial beef and sheep producers looking to enhance the genetic potential of their animals.

“An increasing number of producers are recognising the effect genetic improvement can have on the efficiency and quality of livestock, and I hope that having such a comprehensive online resource at their fingertips will encourage even more people to get involved.”
