A stable block on the northern slopes on the Mendip Hills could be turned into a house under plans submitted to North Somerset Council.

Yeo Valley Farms wants to turn the two old outbuildings at The Hill in Burrington into a cosy single-storey home, with a glass corridor connecting them.

You can view and comment on the plans here: https://planning.n-somerset.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=SB1YJKLPL5Y00.

A statement submitted with the application said: “The stables are constructed from concrete blockwork with a clay-tiled pitched roof and the storage building has rubblestone walls and a clay-tiled pitched roof.

“Both buildings are of substantial construction and capable of conversion. The site adjoins other residential dwellings and is a short walk from the centre of Burrington.”

The new homes will be just around the corner from Burrington Combe Gorge where Yeo Valley Farms is planning a new activity centre. Although less famous than nearby Cheddar Gorge, the place is well known by locals as a beauty spot with stunning scenery including the Rock of Ages and Goatchurch Cavern.
