Infrastructure, soils, global markets and business management are vital elements to the rural economy, and delegates will get a fresh insight into each at this year’s Central Association of Agricultural Valuers’ AGM.

Hosted by outgoing president Nick Millard at Cadbury House Hotel, Bristol, the AGM will kick off with a visit to Yeo Valley Farm on June 22, with the second day featuring speakers from Cranfield University, the Green Alliance, Carter Jonas and the NFU, as well as the CAAV’s own expert advisers.

Mr Millard said: "Food and farming play a key role in the economy, even so close to the centre of Bristol.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to visit this beautiful and historic area, and to reflect on some of the critical issues for the future of rural land management in an uncertain post-Brexit era.”

Supporting British farming, with its high welfare and environmental standards, is now more important than ever, adds Mr Millard.

He said: "As the CAAV’s flagship event, the AGM reinforces the importance of professionalism when advising farmers and landowners in what is an increasingly complex environment.”

The AGM will conclude with the investiture of the Association’s first ever Scottish president, James Dick.

Shropshire’s Geoff Coster, from the Valuation Office, will be the first public office holder to become Senior Vice President, with Essex-based land agent David Brooks stepping into the junior vice president role.
