The Soil Association teamed up with the Organic Livestock Marketing Cooperative at Beef Expo to present all that is great about organic beef production.

With demand for organic beef greater than supply, prices are on the rise - offering an opportunity for organic farmers to consider increasing production.

Innovative Farmers will be on hand too, at a seminar session at 9.30am discussing the benefits of livestock in arable rotations with experience from recent field labs on this topic.

Visitors can also find out how to get involved with Innovative Farmers, the only programme which puts farmers in the driving seat of on farm research.

Liz Bowles, head of farming at the Soil Association, said: "Organic beef is in demand with requirements outstripping supply.

"This, linked with our increasing awareness of the benefits delivered by livestock in arable rotations is causing more farmers to reconsider their farming systems to reintroduce grazing livestock.

"The Soil Association will be on hand at the expo to help farmers wanting to know more about organic farming.”

Innovative Farmers brings together groups of farmers with researchers from top agricultural institutions in practical 'field labs'.

As part of the Duchy Future Farming Programme, the project is funded by the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation through the sale of Waitrose Duchy Organic products.

The network is backed by a team from Linking Environment and Farming, Innovation for Agriculture, the Organic Research Centre and the Soil Association.

You can find the Soil Association at stand 29 at Beef Expo in the Blackdown Building.
