The brand new Tenstar digger simulator will be on show at the Duchy College and Bicton College stand at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show.

The simulator allows the operator to feel like they are in the cab of a swing shovel and challenges them to complete tasks in a set amount of time.

Driving challenges are also included in the simulator, and the person who tops the leader board at the end of the show will have the opportunity to visit the college and try out their skills in the real thing.

Glen Miller, construction plant lead, said: “The Royal Cornwall Show is a great place for us to be able to showcase the new technology available.

"People can come along and have a go, to get a taste of whether they may be interested in a career operating these big machines.”

Alongside the simulator, visitors will have the opportunity to handle some of the unusual animals that feature as part of college courses, taste test edible bugs with the food team and see how the future of food could look, join in with the various activities that the Duchy College Military Academy and Sport departments will be offering, and chat to expert staff and students about the courses and apprenticeships available.

Head of Campus at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, Rob Dunn, concluded: “We are all looking forward to Royal Cornwall Show, it’s a great opportunity to share the latest information about careers in countryside and land-based subjects, alongside catching up with friends, supporters, business contacts and past students. It is an honour for all of our staff and students to be part of Cornwall’s premier agricultural event.”
