The Farm & Country Days event has been announced, and will be taking part on March 21 to 22 at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge.

The event, jointly organised by the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association and Cornwall Food & Farming Group, aims to educate primary school age children about the links between farming and food production.

The group will have created nearly 60 exhibits explaining various aspects of the industry, at the hands-on, interactive event.

There will be over 300 volunteers from the agricultural, horticultural and food producing community giving up their time and expertise to teach the pupils.

There will also be live farm animals through to farm machinery on site, with food producers showing the children how the raw ingredients grown and reared locally are turned into the foods they would be more familiar with.

A spokesperson said: "This is our fifth year running the event giving a further 1,500 Cornish primary school children, from 43 schools, the opportunity to take part.

"750 pupils aged between seven and nine years of age will attend per day."
