The Berkeley Show is due to return for its 114th year on June 25, a change from the traditional August Bank holiday date.

The show suffered low attendance due to poor weather for three consecutive years, and its future was uncertain.

Thanks to support from neighbours and the good will of many local people to show is able to go ahead again this year, and organisers are hoping for a sunny day.

Set in meadows below the historic 12th century Berkeley Castle in the heart of Gloucestershire, the show is one not to be missed.

The Berkeley show was stated in the late 1900s and remains one of the traditional highlights of the local calendar.

The show has remained true to its rural roots celebrating the produce and livestock of the Berkeley Vale and surrounding countryside.

This year the even his hose a new village green area, with local beer and cider provided by local brewers.

There will also be an entertainments stage with traditional Morris dancing and modern street dance, and visitors can also enjoy plenty of shopping at the farmer's market and craft stalls.

A spokesperson said: "The Show has a slightly new layout with a focus on the livestock and rural craft.

"New this year will be Gloucester cattle classes which are a traditional local rare breed.

"The Main Ring will have a good mix of entertainment including Merion Owen’s Quack Pack a working dog and duck display, the Berkeley Hounds, vintage machinery parade, show jumping, bale rolling competition and new for 2017; a Grand Parade of prize winning Livestock.

"This year we are encouraging more children to get involved with activities and competitions and hopefully they’ll bring their families along for the day.

"There will be a designated marquee with a range of activities for our younger visitors free of charge."
