The Woolsery and District Agricultural Show have chosen the North Devon Special Baby Care Unit (SCBU) and the Bude and Holsworthy Rural Support Worker (RSW) to receive a charity donation.

The SCBU received a cheque for £675.67 from the event, which gives out charity donations every year, and the RSW received £1600.

President of Woolsery and District Agricultural Show Derek Lott chose the SCBU after his daughter Chloe, now 21, spent six weeks in SCBU, and she personally thanked nurses from the unit.

Andy Jerrard of the RSW was delighted to receive his charitable donation, and was also presented with a further £2130 from the Woolsery Young Farmers who raised the money after a fundraiser.

Mr Lott said: "My wife and I are personally very grateful for all work of the North Devon Special Care Baby Unit and have made personal donations in the past and as a current member of the steering committee of The Devon Rural Support Worker Team, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to offer them support and I would like to thank the committee of The Woolsery Show for everything they do and achieve."

Pat Martin, Woolsery Show chairman, said: "A number of our agricultural community have benefitted from these very special charities and so we are extremely pleased to support them."
