As part of Mole Valley Farmer’s (www.molevalleyfarmers.com) Pet And Equine weekend, animal behaviourist and adventurer Emma Massingale hosted five evening events to talk about her month on a remote Irish island, living off the countryside, as she attempted to start (break in) two unhandled Connemara ponies at liberty.

All proceeds raised from the ticket sales, which amounted to £1000, were recently given to the World Horse Welfare charity (www.worldhorsewelfare.org). WHW is an equine charity that improves the lives of horses and ponies both in the UK and around the world through education, campaigning, and hands-on care. The recent economic slump has seen even more horses and ponies mistreated, neglected or abandoned, leading to unprecedented demands on WHW’S resources and many equines requiring new homes.

As part of its ongoing support, Mole Valley Farmers has been delighted to work with World Horse Welfare’s Somerset branch, at Glenda Spooner Farm, by donating beautifully boxed grooming kits, valued at £35, for each rehomed horse or pony.

Andy Scarzynski Head of Marketing and E Commerce said; “The Pet & Equine weekends were a great success, but especially Emma’s talks, which allowed the audience to share at first hand her trials, tribulations and eventual triumph as she backed the two newbie youngsters without assistance, tack or any means of restraint. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us on those evenings, allowing us to raise £1000 to help finance the valuable on-going work of World Horse Welfare. Watch this space for more news and events featuring Emma with Mole Valley Farmers during 2016!”
