Smallholder editor on Farming Today programme
Liz Wright, editor of Smallholder was on Radio 4 Farming Today programme this morning. Under the spotlight was regulation of smallholdings and animal health issues, not least those following the foot and mouth problems and blue tongue.
Liz was asked as an expert in such matters to give her views.
She emphasised that there was enough regulation concerning livestock at present not to warrant any more. She also highlighted how many people wanted to set up a smallholding. There was no need to wait for the magical two acres, she said. People could become involved on a patio and bees did not need a large area. People wanted more control in the food they eat and smallholding was one way of doing it.
