Whether you're a parent, teacher, nursery assistant or child minder, this course will give you a deeper understanding of the children in your care. What makes children tick? What factors matter most in shaping a baby or toddler's personality and behaviour? How do children develop socially and emotionally? If you find such questions intriguing our Child Psychology Diploma is ideal. Among other things, you'll learn how children build relationships with others, how they acquire behaviour and how they develop moral judgment. You'll also study the importance of play, the development of language and the biological basis of aggression.
Upon successful completion of this distance learning course you will hold the EDI Level 3 Diploma in Child Psychology - one of the largest accredited awarding bodies in the UK vocational sector. The National Qualifications Framework outlines Level 3 qualifications as equivalent to A Levels, denoting and recognising the ability to gain and, where relevant, apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding. Learning at this level is appropriate for people wishing to go to university, work independently, or in some areas supervise and train others in their field of work.
Gaining the EDI Level 3 Diploma in Child Psychology will provide a real boost to your job prospects, enhancing your CV and helping you get noticed by potential employers. With the Diploma in Child Psychology you may be able to apply for jobs as a Nursery Assistant, earning a potential salary of around £12,000* per annum (*Source: www.payscale.com, May 2011). You will also get a good taste of Psychology as a subject and will have the opportunity to progress towards a qualification in a more specialised area of your choosing. With this diploma under your belt you may wish to further develop your knowledge via the Edexcel Advanced GCE (A Level) in Psychology.
You should be able to complete the entire course within approximately 120 study hours. You will be required to complete three assignments.
