More event cancellations of interest to smallholders
6:10am Saturday 14th July 2012 in Equine
Due to the continued bad weather, the Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary and animal centre which provides care and rehabilitation for 200 horses, ponies, donkeys, cows, sheep and cats in the heart of the Essex countryside, has cancelled their next open day on Sunday 15th July 2012 http://www.remussanctuary.org/.......... RSPCA Block Fen, Wimblington have also had to cancel their dog show and open day on the 15th July.
Staff at the centre in Wimblington, near March, have taken the decision to cancel the event because of the rain and the field normally used for the event would become water and mud logged.
RSPCA centre manager Jackie Williams said: “We are really disappointed that we are going to have to cancel the event, but we just think that there could be a number of potential problems with parking if we were to go ahead.
“We really wish we could go ahead but think that it could prove a nightmare if people ended up getting stuck or if we ran out of parking spaces.
“We felt the best thing to do was to postpone for this Sunday and we hope that the event will be held on August 26, but more details will be available nearer the time.
Anyone wishing to find out more should contact the RSPCA centre on 0300 123 0726.
