Competition rules


These rules apply to all competitions appearing in any publication produced by Newsquest South West (Falmouth). Since general rules cannot cover every specific competition, the rules printed on the entry coupon at each competition should be read carefully alongside these. 1. APPLICATION 1.1 Unless otherwise stated these rules apply to all competitions appearing in publications of Newsquest South West (Falmouth). Any different or supplemental rules specific to each competition will be published with the entry coupon or the competition details. In the event that the rules published specifically for each competition are in conflict with these rules, the rules published specifically for each competition shall prevail. 1.2 All entrants must agree to observe these rules. The submission of an entry shall be deemed to indicate acceptance of these rules. 1.3 These rules are subject to amendment or alteration from time to time. 2. ENTRY 2.1 Competitions are open to any person resident in the UK except: 2.1.1 employees of Newsquest South West or of any associated company or their immediate families; 2.1.2 persons connected with the competition and their immediate families. 2.2 Entries must be delivered to Newsquest South West (Falmouth) before the published closing date and time. Late entries will not be considered. 2.3 The entrant is responsible for delivery of the entry. Proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of delivery. 2.4 Newsquest South West (Falmouth) will not be held responsible for loss of, delay or damage to any entry. 2.5 Upon submission all entries become the property of Newsquest South West (Falmouth) and will not normally be returned. Entries will be destroyed seven days after publication of the results. 3. JUDGING 3.1 Entries which do not comply with the rules will be declared void as will entries which arrive in a mutilated condition or which appear to have been interfered with in any way. Entries which in the opinion of the judges appear to be suspicious will not be considered. 3.2 The decision of the judges is final. No correspondence will be entered into concerning the judges' decision. 3.3 If the rules published specifically for a game do not specify who the judges are to be, the Editor of the newspaper or publication concerned shall be the sole judge of that game. 4. RESULTS 4.1 Winners will be notified in writing of the results after the competition has been judged. 4.2 Names of winners will be published in the publication in which the competition appeared. 5. PRIZES 5.1 Prizes will be as published and cannot be exchanged. 5.2 Newsquest South West (Falmouth) do not warrant the fitness for purpose nor the quality of any goods supplied as prizes. Complaints relating to goods supplied as prizes will be investigated as a matter of goodwill only and prize winners accept prizes subject to all defects whether latent or apparent. 5.3 In the event that there is more than one winner of a prize which is, by its nature divisible (for example a cash prize) then such prize shall be shared, subject to the decision of the judges, between the winners pro rata. In no circumstances will the responsibility of Newsquest South West (Falmouth) in respect of prize money extend beyond the aggregate amount published as available as such in any one competition or, in a competition consisting of a series of games, beyond the maximum aggregate amount published in relation to or allocated to any one game in the series. 5.4 Any such cash prize shall be paid by cheque to the winner in full and final satisfaction of his claim. 5.5 In the event that there is more than one winner of an indivisible prize, the winners shall participate in a draw and the prize shall be awarded to the winner of the draw. The method of conducting the draw shall be in the discretion of the judges and will not be disclosed. 5.6 Newsquest South West (Falmouth) will notify the winner in writing of the place where his or her prize may be collected. If such prize is not collected within 14 days of posting this notification, the prize shall remain the property of Newsquest South West (Falmouth) to do with, as it considers fit. 5.7 A prize cannot be awarded to a person who for any reason would not be allowed by law to purchase or use the prize. 5.8 Although Newsquest South West (Falmouth) will try to ensure that all prizes are received by the prize winners, its responsibility within the rules is limited to providing only those prizes which it has itself offered. Certain prizes are offered by third parties and Newsquest South West (Falmouth) will not accept responsibility for any refusal or failure by such third parties to provide such prizes or for any defect in or damage to any such prizes. 6. MISCELLANEOUS 6.1 No correspondence will be entered into regarding the interpretation of either these rules or those specific to each competition. 6.2 Unless the context otherwise requires, in these rules the singular shall include the plural, the masculine shall include the feminine and vice versa. 6.3 Our competitions are intended simply to be fun and entry does not create an enforceable contract. 6.4 No purchases or payment of any kind is necessary for entry in our competitions unless the rules specific to a particular competition provide otherwise
